Taipei City, Taiwan –
Since 1990, Taiwan Culinary Exhibition has been held for 20 years. This year’s Taiwan Culinary Exhibition had particularly set up a “20th Anniversary Culinary Art Exhibiton”, combined with novel culinary skills such as ice sculpture, chocolate sculpture, cream sculpture, fruit and vegetable carving.
Speaking of fruit and vegetable carving part, several creators chose various fruits and vegetables as materials, such as watermelon, dragon fruit, kiwi, taro, etc. These artists used delicate cutting techniques to carve into very creative artworks. Each work of art seems to have a life within it. Teacher Lee Rui-Lin’s masterpiece - Terracotta Army, for instance, was made out of taro. Whether it was the color, or appearance, even the details were astonishingly life-like!
Besides taro-based Terracotta Army, such as Zen master Bodhidharma carved out of a watermelon and dragon made from dragon fruit were also quite amazing as well.
