With an altitude of 800 to 1,000 meters, Liu Shi Dan Shan (6,000 Catties Mountain) is situated in the northeast of Fuli town. It is one part of western mountains of Haian Range(Coastal Range) the same as Chih Ke Mountain. It also has 300 hectare of tiger lily garden and becomes one of the important place of tiger lily production.
“The 6,000 Catties Mountain”, what a strange name! It is said that the rice harvests were quite good during the ancient time. There were 6,000 catties averagely each morgan (0.9699 hectare), so the residents nearby called the mountain in a fun way “the 6,000 Catties Mountain”. Since 1971, the farmers began to grow the tiger lilies and had great harvest. The tiger lily became a new popular crop in Liu Shi Dan Shan.
From the end of August to the beginning of September, the tiger lilies bloom most beautifully. The blossoms are all over the mountain. There is a strong contrast between green grass and orange tiger lilies, just like a picture. During this period, people always gather here for the flower-watching.
Besides, situated on the top of the eastern tiger lily garden (an attitude of 964 meters), Wang You Pavilion (literally meaning to forget worries when stay at this pavilion) is the best spot to overlook the tiger lily garden. These beautiful sights will make you carefree and joyous. You can even see the spectacular Central Mountain Range, Lun Tian River, and Siouguluan River. Also, you will enjoy watching stars here where is no light pollution.
