Chiayi County, Taiwan –
“Hero Slope”, the words engraved on the stone on the road side, is located at 32.2 kilometres on Chiayi County Highway No.122, which is also the starting point of Rueili Rueitai Historic Trail.
Rueitai Historic Trail with a total length of 5.2 kilometres is used to be the channel connected Rueili Village and Taihe Village that allowed both two villagers to trade their agricultural products. By 1999, under the effort of Chiayi Forestry Bureau, it has become a very suitable ecological hiking trail for both leisure and educational functions.
During the spring harvest, taking a stroll about 20 minutes from the entrance of Rueitai Historic Trail in bamboo woods, you can occasionally see bamboo shoots stuck out of the ground to remind people watching their steps carefully. Along the winding and narrow trail, nothing fascinating enough will catch your attention. Walking towards the first pavilion, you can get some rest and somehow you may notice something different from the previous views you have seen in the bamboo woods. Once you step out the forest, you will see entirely different and splendid scenery right in front of your eyes! A vast greenish tea garden field shining under the sun and blue sky gives people an astonishingly spectacular impression.
If you don’t search carefully, it is not quite easy finding the way into the tea garden. The three sides of the tea garden are surrounded by bamboo forests and the only unblocked one side is facing Dayaoshan Mountain. Gorgeous tea garden scenery and magnificent natural landscape forms into a beautiful painting that will take your breath away!
While taking a nice and slow pace in the tea garden, you can see hard-working tea workers picking tea leaves in an experienced way; sometimes, you can also hear the radio from a distance playing Taiwanese songs and people singing along. When you close your eyes, you can still feel the beauty of mountain scenery imprinted in your memory.
