Taiwan (TraNews) – Tung blossom blooms in every April and May. However, what is the relation between Hakka and Tung blossom?

Hakka people in Taiwan locates mainly in Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli. There has been 300 years of struggling and development of Hakka people until the result today. It was the complicated history that created the unique culture and living ways. Hakka people survive in bad geographic condition with their thrive and tough personalities. This kind of relationship between the nature world and human beings influences the way and philosophy of Hakka people. It is the Tung blossom witness the struggling for the past hundreds years.

People can also see Tung blossom in Nantou, Pingtung or Hualien. However, many of you who were grown up in Hakka village must had the memory of playing under the Tung tree. Hakka people gather mostly in northern Taiwan. Other than camphor tree and tea tree, Tung tree is one of the economic profit.

As time goes by, the economic value of Tung tree exist no more. However, the strength is something we all should keep in minds. With Tung blossom festival holding each year, people now have more chances to enjoy the beauty of Tung blossom. The Tung blossom has been given different meaning, and attracts people in recent years. Each time when you see Tung blossom, you’ll be reminded the strength of the flower and Hakka people.
