Nanotu County, Taiwan –
A journey is not only just about going somewhere scenic, shopping, or taking pictures. An in-depth journey will open your mind, change your perspectives of life and broaden your vision like an eagle stretching out wings hovering between the heaven and the earth.
As you visit the aboriginal tribes, you will find that the true beauty lies within the land where we are standing on. In morning, the earth is awaked by the warm sunlight. When the sun rises up early above the hills, the rays of light make people jump from the bed instantly. Once you push the windows open, the refreshing mountain breeze will blow into the room, and the air is full of freshness. Walking on the winding streets, sometimes you can hear the cocks crowing and the dogs barking. On the narrative walls, some of the paintings are full of cracks, but still whispering the remote legends of the tribal people.
There is one wall that is particularly impressive with a considerable number of hundred pacers spitting out their tongues. It looks a bit intimidating at first glance, but the village head mentioned that this wall is actually trying to convey the image of peace. In the legend, Hundred Pacers and human beings were once friends. Because Hundred Pacers have gorgeous patterns on them, so the humans borrowed the baby Hundred Pacer home and learned how to weave the diamond-shaped patterns like the Hundred Pacer. However, the baby Hundred Pacer ended up dead. The war between Hundred Pacers and humans began. Both sides battled constantly. Through the mediation of lizards, both sides finally learned the importance of peace in the war. Just like this, each wall has a mission to tell a story of true wisdom.
In addition, each tribe has its own unique features that attract visitors such as aboriginal flavoured meal, roasted boar, tug-of-a-war, DIY reed flute making, schist paining, river tracing, wild barbequing, tribal dancing and singing. A journey of visiting the hometown of the aboriginals surely will be a really amazing and unforgettable experience!
