TAITUNG COUNTY, Taiwan
(TraNews) – In the early times of Taiwan society, people did farming business for living. Afterwards, service industry took charge and became the main stream of the society. You rarely see young people working in the farm or rice fields nowadays. The rustic countryside atmosphere has gone gradually.
Luckily, there is a corner in Taiwan still remains the facet of primary farming society. There are young people and old farmers working hard together to maintain the village. The place is called Wan’an Community.
Driving along Prefectural way 197, you will see rice fields beside the road. The rice wave can be graded as international-class view.
The first stop is the rice museum. The rustic appearance with red bricks indicate what has the building been through for all the years. It used to be a stock for putting fertilizer but then rebuilt into rice museum.
Lunch time! It is best to have traditional food in countryside. Have some salted pork, salted eggs and couple of side dishes. The big bowl meal set is what people used to have when finished morning work. Till now, there is even a glass of rice tapioca milk tea along with the delicacies.
When you finish feeding up your stomach, you can head to the back of the mountain. The community plants over 30-soccer field big rice. In 2000, local farmers decided to reform and devote into organic market. The business brings another facet for the local farmers.
Other than viewing the rice fields from above, you can also ride bike beside the field and enjoy the cool breeze. You will be embraced by the golden and green field, and circled with the relaxing atmosphere.
Use another aspect to view the world. The rice fields contain the great knowledge of our ancestors. We may not have been through what they have experienced, but by exploring in the countryside, all the nostalgic scenes are right in front of our eyes.
