Chiayi County, Taiwan –
Taking a holiday away the hubbub from the city and taking a nice and relaxing stroll in mountain trails can be a good idea of loosen up. Located in Alishan Rueifong region, there is a newly built trail with the total length of approximately 2600 meters along the Jhukeng River valley. The gap between the highest and the lowest is little, which is very suitable for hiking and morning walk. The round-trip only takes about an hour.
While hiking in mountain, you can appreciate the magnificent beauty of mountain rock walls, vertical depth of valleys and running waterfalls along the trail. Indulging yourself in the Mother Nature, you can feel the fresh and gentle air breeze touching your skin.
It is said that Jhukeng River Trail was once an ancient path that the ancestors used to travel back and forth between towns and mountains in the earliest day. Over the past few years, Alishan National Scenic Area Headquarter and local residents have made a great effort in turning Jhukeng River Trail into a beautiful tourism spot. Besides, Jhukeng River Trail is not so much a challenge for beginners; therefore, they can enjoy the fun of hiking and walking on the wobbling bridge with ease.
At the end of the trail, you are about to see the peak and one of the most spectacular waterfalls - “Longdong Waterfall”. When the water flows downstream, people will be mesmerized by the dazzling transparent water curtain and the rumbling sound. If you would like to cool down a bit, you can try to run quickly through the waterfall or get some rest on the poolside.
