Hualien County, Taiwan –
River tracing is a fairly popular outdoor adventure activity throughout Taiwan. The so-called “river tracing” is actually to trace the source of the river, which is involved particular techniques such as hiking, rock climbing, camping, swimming, knotting, surviving in the wild, locating the position, bird watching, etc.
Hualien region is located on the Central Mountain Range; as a result, Hualien possesses unique and mountainous geographical landscape. Hualien is also famed for its river tracing scenic spots. Pratan Golden Gorge, situated on Sanjhan River in Sioulin Village, Hualien County, is 1120 meters above sea level.
There is a tributary stream flew into the north of Sanjhan River from the left side of the canyon. From the upstream convergence, you are about to see the resplendent and spectacular gorge landscape. Both sides of the cliffs seem to echo each other, forming into one concave and one convex, like it is split by an enormous axe. Water running through it forms into a waterfall and pool.
In order to protect the river environment, the local indigenous people prohibit visitors from entering this area. Since the river has been successfully preserved, the county government this year allows tourists to engage in river tracing in Sanjhan River. Golden Gorge soon has become one of the golden river tracing travel routes. Tourists not only can engage in a wide variety of outdoor adventure activities such diving, swimming, hiking and so on, but they can also indulge themselves in the natural SPA. If you are seeking for adventure, river tracing undoubtedly will bring you an impressive experience. As a reminder, please prepare your own swimsuit, shorts, camera, sunblock, light jacket and clothes for change.
